Flash Back Friday. Morro Bay, California

Every once in awhile we are forced to look back over all the places we have had to work. Today as I was scrolling through my photo stream I came across this shot that I sent a friend a couple weeks ago, and one I had taken before starting this blog. We were having an email conversation about work and when I mentioned that we were in Morro Bay he responded with "A lovely part of the world." Yes, it is a lovely part of the world, and not far from the city that we grew up in.

Our view of The Rock in Morro Bay
In all of our travels around this amazing ball of wonder that we humans get to live on it never ceases to amaze me what a gorgeous place California is. We have been to every corner and most of the nooks and crannies of the contiguos US. While there are gorgeous places in each and every state, being a California girl at heart, it makes me happy to get to explore every nook and cranny of this state this year. And to top it off, we get to do it all for the sake of fun, and a bit of work.
When I see sights like this as I look up from my computer or iPad from inside a restaurant, a coffe shop, a grassy lawn, or sitting on a bench at the harbor, it makes me realize that being a little ADD is wonderful. Otherwise I might not look up enough in life to see the sights if I just focused on the work... what fun would that be?

On the Shores of Pescadero Beach

Today we stopped off for a bit of a rest in the middle of our client filled day. We are visiting campgrounds up the stunning coast of Central California and the pull of to Pescadero Beach screamed at us to pull over and enjoy the views. Most of my computer input is done in the car while Frank drives from stop to stop, but today we decided to pull the car over and do that same work with this view.
It's amazing how just a short bit of time sitting by the ocean, taking in the fresh air, and glancing out over the waves can give you that burst of energy you need to finish a long day, and this girl loves being anywhere near the beach. On all our travels I seek out water and always love when Our Office Today ends up on its shores.

The Gardens of The Winchester Mystery House

The Winchester Mystery House and its gardens

If you're a reader of mystery books, The Winchester Mystery House is a fun place to spend the day. We started the morning out taking The Grande Estate Tour which included walking through 110 of the rooms in the mansion, exploring the somewhat spooky basement, and walking all throughout the gardens. Once finished exploring, we set up our office on one of the picnic tables that line the garden, had a picnic lunch, and caught up on work. We were protected from the direct sunlight with the cascading trees above us, but were still able to enjoy the wonderful fresh air and peaceful silence that you find when surrounded by beautiful  flowers.

The spooky windows looking out from the mansion

There is something wonderful about not only stopping to smell the roses, but finding a place to sit and surround yourself with them. On the property here in San Jose you can see hundreds of roses, plants, and trees from countries all over the world. There is an amazing bell tower that you can find yourself staring at for so long you realize you might not be getting as much work done as you need to, but that is the best part of our job... our schedule is our own, and as long as the work all ends up finished by deadline, who's to know how many hours we worked today, but us? Have no fear, we did get all caught up, even a bit ahead since working outside on a weekday when most of the world is at work inside a building is the best place to work, get a ton of stuff done and not have too many people around. This is another reason we hit tourist attractions mid week, we get them all to ourselves. Just like our mansion tour this morning, we were the only ones on it and had our own private and fabulous tour guide. Well, we are off for the day, so I will sign off. We hope you all have a great day, and we look forward to sharing where Our Office Today might be tomorrow... Since we don't even know where that may be make sure you check back in.

A Picture Perfect Day in Wine Country

Welcome to Our Office Today! We are Frank and Suzy Whitmore and we have been traveling this great country for almost 11 years. Every few days the scene out our windows and the location of our office change, and we love it. Since one of our favorite things to do is to set up our mobile devices anywhere pretty, scenic, relaxing, or inspiring we thought we'd start to share these places with you. We hope you join along with us and see all the fun locations where we work in Our Office Today!

Our Office Today was at Hahn Estates in Soledad, California in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey. The estate sits on 650 gorgeous acres of grapes, trees, and mountain views as far as the eye can see. The weather was a perfect 75 degrees and after a bit of wine tasting we sat out on their back deck, caught up on work, enjoyed the views, and got a little vitamin D in the process. There is nothing quite like getting to change our office on a daily basis to amazing places around this great country. Stayed tuned to see where Our Office Today moves to next.
